چکیده

Increasing insight into the interfacial behaviour of surfactants has emerged during the past few years. Important advances in this area are largely due to the use of surface-specific techniques like ellipsometry, neutron reflectivity, fluorescence Ž . spectroscopy, and atomic force microscopy AFM for in situ studies of surfactant layer properties. This review covers recent developments in the area which have contributed to the current understanding of adsorption mechanisms and interfacial structures. Q 2000 Elsevier Science Ltd. A review on experimental studies of surfactant adsorption at the hydrophilic solid-water interface.

The progresses of understanding of the surfactant adsorption at the hydrophilic solid-liquid interface from extensive experimental studies are reviewed here. In this respect the kinetic and equilibrium studies involves anionic, cationic, non-ionic and mixed surfactants at the solid surface from the solution. Kinetics and equilibrium adsorption of surfactants at the solid-liquid interface depend...

Nanoscale aggregate structures of trisiloxane surfactants at the solid-liquid interface.

The self-associating structures at the solid-liquid interface of three nonionic trisiloxane surfactants ((CH3)3SiO)2Si(CH3)(CH2)3(OCH2CH2)n OH (n = 6, 8, and 12), or BEn, are studied as a function of substrate properties by atomic force microscopy (AFM) imaging and force measurement. These trisiloxane surfactants are known as superwetters, which promote rapid spreading of dilute aqueous solutio...

MODIFICATION OF CLINOPTILOLITE BY SURFACTANTS FOR MOLYBDATE (99Mo) ADSORPTION FROM AQUEOUS SOLUTIONS

Experiments were conducted to study the ability of surfactant-modified clinoptilolite for molybdate adsorption from aqueous solutions. Clinoptilolite was treated with some cationic surfactants. Adsorption of surfactants on zeolite surface was confirmed by chemical analysis, IR (Infra-Red Spectroscopy), DTG (Derivative Thermogravimetry) and SEM (Scanning Electron Microscopy) techniques. The modi...

Preparation and Investigation of Foaming Amphiphilic Fluorinated Nanoparticles for Enhanced Oil Recovery

Amphiphilic nanoparticles have attracted increasing interest as Pickering emulsifiers owing to the combined advantages of both traditional surfactants and homogeneous particles. Here, foaming amphiphilic fluorinated nanoparticles were prepared for enhanced oil recovery by the toposelective surface modification method. The structure and properties of amphiphilic nanoparticles were characterized ...

Kinetics of Surfactant Adsorption at Fluid/Fluid Interfaces: Non-Ionic Surfactants

We present a model treating the kinetics of adsorption of soluble surface-active molecules at the interface between an aqueous solution and another fluid phase. The model accounts for both the diffusive transport inside the solution and the kinetics taking place at the interface using a free-energy formulation. In addition, it offers a general method of calculating dynamic surface tensions. Non...
